Panasonic announces Lumix ZS200 and Lumix GX9 compact cameras

Panasonic has launched two new compact cameras, one is a point and shoot of the 1-inch sensor variety and the other a Micro Four Thirds mirrorless interchangeable lens camera.

The Lumix ZS200's most prominent feature is its 24-360mm equivalent zoom lens with 5x hybrid image stabilization. Behind it is a 20.1MP, 1-inch type sensor with Venus Engine processor and ISO 12,800 support that can also do 4K video. The camera has a 0.21-inch 2330k dot EVF and a 3-inch touchscreen display. The ZS200 has Panasonic's fast Depth from Defocus AF system with 0.1 seconds focusing time. Bluetooth and Wi-Fi support is included. The camera is priced at $799.99 and will be available on March 20.

The Lumix GX9 has a 20.3MP Micro Four Thirds sensor without a low-pass filter and Venus Engine processor. The camera has a 5-axis hybrid image stabilizer when used with a stabilized lens. The GX9 has a tilting electronic viewfinder which can tilt up by 90 degrees that allows you to shoot from chest-level. The touchscreen display meanwhile can tilt down so you can shoot from above head-level. The GX9 also has the DFD AF system with face/eye detection and low light af mode. The GX9 can also do 4K video and has a 4K photo mode as well that lets you shoot at 30fps and save individual 4K resolution images. Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are also available. The Lumix GX9 with a 12-60mm equivalent F3.6-5.6 kit lens is priced at $999 and will be available in March.
